OSHP troopers making sure kids don’t go hungry: ‘We still need to be here for each other’
OSP troopers help deliver food to kids in need
WILMINGTON, Ohio (FOX19) - With schools in Ohio closed until at least May 1, per Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s order Tuesday, not all kids around the state have access to the school meals they once did.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are taking time out of their days to make sure that’s not a problem for children in Clinton County.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, troopers spend an hour handing out food to hundreds of kids in need in the Wilmington City School District.
Troopers are also talking to the kids as they make their way to pick up the food.
Sgt. Brittany Noah came up with the idea.
Noah says it was an easy decision to help out, as so many troopers want to serve the community. They also want to set a positive example for kids in the future, so they have a positive image of what an OSHP trooper does when things get back to normal.
“We still need to be here for each other,” Noah said. “We still need to be here for our communities, and we still need to reach out. Find that need. Find that need in your community and area. Always continually reach out and just be there for each other.”
The troopers say they will continue to distribute the food for as long as it’s needed.
